Meet the Avery 40. Part of the Brinck Heritage Collection. Serial 4131, a circa-1914 steam traction engine built by the Avery Manufacturing Company in Peoria, Illinois. This on’s an undermount, the boiler sits above the engine on a locomotive-style steel frame, built to carry the strain of plowing instead of forcing it through the boiler. Forty horsepower at the drawbar, 120 on the belt, roughly 40,000 pounds, only one of five known examples still exists. Restored in Odessa, Missouri, completed in 2022.
